Normally students are not asked for return tickets.

Kindly use the old passport number in order to create a pre-entry checklist as EMGS does not have a record of your new passport as you renew the new passport in your country. However, kindly revert back to us via email at enquiry(at)emgs.com.my with the screenshot of the error if the issue still occurred.

Yeah but you got to have a valid eVAL in order to apply for SEV.
My university tell me no need to have val , as i have expired visa and sev will give on arrival to iraqi student
Can I enter Malaysia if my eval expired at the time my documents were at the Malaysian embassy. They issued me visa but my eval has expired now. Can I still enter Malaysia with my valid sev?
Okeibunor, follow the date on your SEV if you already got it. VAL is no longer required after you get your SEV.
