I got here without an institution representative present at the airport and I did not encounter an issues with immigration or whosoever regarding that. But still, liaise with your institution for guidance.

That would be if you need someone to receive you, but u could do that on your own, i got through them and went out either.

There is a special counter for students at KL airport. Just bring a print of all your documents e.g offer letter, Passport, EVal, single entry visa. You will get clearance from the counter very quickly and comfortably.
