Dear EMGS Team,
Good day.
I hope you are doing well.
I would like to kindly request your guidance regarding my student visa renewal process in Malaysia.
My current student visa is due to expire on 28 August 2026, and my university is currently processing the renewal application. Since I am an international student and need to plan my travel accordingly, I would appreciate your clarification on the following points:
1. Entry into Malaysia before visa expiry
Can I enter Malaysia and submit my passport to my university only two days before my visa expiry date, for example on or around 26 August 2026?
2. Minimum number of days required before expiry
Please clarify the minimum number of days before the visa expiry date that I must enter Malaysia and submit my passport to the university for renewal processing.
3. Recommended timeline for passport submission
How early should I ideally submit my passport to the university before my current visa expires to avoid any issues, delays, penalties, or overstaying concerns?
4. Maximum period allowed for early renewal
Please also confirm how many days or months before the visa expiry date the renewal application can be submitted or processed at the earliest.
5. Visa renewal procedure
Kindly guide me on the complete renewal procedure, including:
* When the renewal application should be initiated;
* When the student must be physically present in Malaysia;
* When the passport must be submitted to the university;
* Whether there are any immigration requirements, medical screening, insurance, payment, or document submission steps;
* Any risks involved if the passport is submitted very close to the visa expiry date.
I would be grateful if you could provide a clear and detailed response, as I need to make sure I follow the correct procedure and avoid any complications with my visa renewal.
Thank you very much for your kind guidance and support.
Kind regards,
Satish Nachappa
