Hi EMGS,

I am writing to seek confirmation regarding my travel timing to Malaysia based on my eVAL, which was issued on 11 January 2026 and is valid for six months 11. July. 2026.

I have deferred my intake to the July 2026 semester for the Master of Management program at Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UNIKL). My university has informed me that registration will begin on 25 June 2026. Based on this, I am planning to arrive in Malaysia on 1. July 2026.

Kindly confirm if arriving during early July (prior to the expiry of my eVAL) is acceptable for immigration clearance and subsequent student pass processing.

  Please be informed the eVAL is valid for 6 months from the date of the VAL issuance. Kindly take note, the eVAL need to be valid upon entry to Malaysia.

    I hope you are well.
    
    I am an international student registered with Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UNIKL), and I would like to seek your urgent clarification regarding my travel situation.
    
    Student Details:

    I had previously booked a one-way ticket on 1 July 2026, but I was denied boarding by Ethiopian Airlines. The airline informed me that I was not allowed to travel on a one-way ticket without an “OK to Board” confirmation.
    
    I have now rescheduled my flight to Wednesday, 8 July 2026, but I am still being asked to provide an “OK to Board” confirmation, which is causing further delay.
    
    In this regard, I would like to kindly request your clarification on the following:
    
    1. Are international students holding a VAL (Visa Approval Letter) required to book a two-way (return) ticket before traveling to Malaysia?
    2. Is a one-way ticket sufficient for entry as a student?
    3. Is there any requirement from EMGS or Malaysian Immigration for an “OK to Board” confirmation, particularly when traveling on a one-way ticket?
    
    I want to ensure that I fully comply with all official requirements before attempting to travel again.
    
    I would greatly appreciate your urgent guidance on this matter, as my travel date is approaching.
