I hope you are doing well. I am reaching out to clarify the dependent pass application process for my wife as I prepare to continue my studies in Malaysia.

I recently completed my Master’s degree by coursework at Monash University Malaysia and will be applying for a new student visa through the Non-Direct Student Pass Application route. I am enrolling in the Postgraduate Diploma in Business and Commerce (MQA/SWA0120, MQF Level 7) at Monash Malaysia, which is a one-year program and serves as a pathway to my PhD.

I would appreciate your clarification on the following:

1) Am I eligible to apply for a dependent pass for my wife while studying for a Postgraduate Diploma in Malaysia?

2) When can I submit the dependent pass application for my wife?

3) Can I travel to Malaysia with my E-VAL and bring my wife along on a social visit pass, then apply for her dependent pass from within Malaysia? Or do I need to wait until I receive my student pass sticker before submitting her dependent pass application? I would prefer travelling together.
