Subject: Student Pass and Internship

Dear EMGS,
I’m an international student with a mandated internship in my home country during my last semester, extending beyond the completion of studies in April 2024. Can I cancel my Student Pass before the internship, considering I’ll still be a student during that period? Your guidance on this matter would be appreciated.

  Hi Yusra Hussein,
  
  In the event that your internship is included in your course duration, you are required to have a valid student pass throughout your study period. If the internship is not included in your course duration, you may cancel your student pass once you have completed your studies in Malaysia. Kindly liaise with your institution for further clarification on this matter.

    Thank you for responding. I have a follow-up query. If I don’t cancel, I’ll need to return to cancel the student pass. Since this is my last semester, it seems more logical to cancel before leaving, considering I won’t be returning as a student. Can I cancel my visa based on these circumstances?
