Coz we have to buy a ticket first, so that we key in the details of the ticket in the travel authorisation form. That’s what I read from the instructions

You should not buy flight ticket before the approval bcoz it is to risky since the approval could take unexpected amounts of time

Email your university for applying student pass renewal with your new passport send them the require data for renewal and you can also apply for travel authorization even your student pass expired
