Reminder to students coming in: 1. All vendors, services providers including at the airport accept Malaysian Ringgit or Credit Card ONLY. 2. If you intend to bring with you US dollars to change into Ringgit, the accepted dollars are a. Those issued after 2008 (blue color) AND have no writing, scratches or money-changer stamps on them. The cheapest way to get ringiits is through ATMs. From experience I find Atm cheaper than converting Jordanian dinars to US dollars then to Ringgits.
Note: Three years ago I was almost stranded with my green-colored US dollars with no money changer accepting them!!
May I know if it’s possible to pay using visa card or Master card from stores and other places if we don’t open a bank account in Malaysia?
Absolutely yes. I buy through visa card and Mastercard. I also withdraw from ATMs at an exchange rate of 1 Rm = 0.17 JOD while in my country the rate is 1 Rm = 0.20 Atm is also cheaper at exchange rates than money changers.
