Please be informed the Immigration Department does not extend the validity of the Visa Approval Letter (VAL) if it is expired. The immigration department will only extend the validity of the VAL if you apply for an extension before the current VAL expires.
As such you are required to apply for a new VAL if your current VAL has expired prior to your entry into Malaysia.

Get Single Entry Visa(SEV)based on your VAL. And then travel to Malaysia according to the expiration date of your SEV. Makes sense?
Yeah, better to enter before your VAL expires.
