I remember someone asked the same question. As far as I remember, once you get the degree you should leave the country. If you have a valid pass by that time, you would need to use it to certify your documents and certificates. I am not sure how much time they will give you to finalize your stuff there.

I have one year extra pass because I have done my few semesters online while I was in my country.
So, it means as soon as I complete my study, I have to leave Malaysia and I cannot stay the rest 1 surplus year.-
As far as I remember, something like this happened to another person. Upon completion of study, he had more time on the student pass but the university submitted a request to shorten it.
