Please share if you got any information.. I am also in the same stage. My renewal reached 50% and unable to submit current and valid pass. My institute said I need to travel to Malaysia whereas student pass expired.. -

Kindly note that you may submit a copy of a valid pass to the Institution once entered Malaysia for the student pass process. Kindly liaise with your institution with regards to your travel arrangements.
