Hello EMGS Team,

I am an international student at Sunway University currently renewing my student visa. Before leaving Malaysia, I had already started my student visa renewal process through EMGS.

I travelled to my home country to renew my passport, and while I was there, I received an email stating that my student visa renewal had been approved and that I only needed to submit my passport for sticker endorsement. My EMGS application status was also showing around 90%, indicating that the approval stage had already been completed.

However, when I tried to travel back to Malaysia, the airline refused to allow me to board because my previous student visa sticker had already expired. I explained my situation and showed them:
the school approval email,
the EMGS application progress,
passport containing my previous Malaysian visas,
but they still refused to let me travel.
As advised by my university’s international office, I applied for a tourist visa using my new passport so that I could return to Malaysia and complete the endorsement process. Unfortunately, there has still been no update regarding the tourist visa application.
At the moment, classes already started two weeks ago, and I am very worried about missing more lessons and affecting my studies.
I would sincerely like to ask for your guidance and assistance regarding:
whether I am allowed to travel to Malaysia with my current documents,
whether EMGS can issue any supporting/travel letter for the airline or immigration,
and what the best solution would be for me to return to Malaysia as soon as possible and complete my visa endorsement process.
My old passport number is OP0875471, expiring in September 2026. And my new passport number is PO0285833, which I used to apply for the tourist visa
