Hi Peyal Rozario,
All higher educational institutions in Malaysia are required to sign a Personal Bond on behalf of the student/dependent as prescribed under Regulation 18 of the Immigration Regulations 1963. The personal bond is used as a guarantee that the student to whom a student pass is issued will comply with the provisions of the Ordinance (Immigration Regulations 1963) and of any regulations made there under. If the student in question fails to comply with the law (goes AWOL etc) the sum paid will be forfeited to the Government of Malaysia. To comply with this requirement, the university requires the student to lodge the said sum with the university for this purpose. Students who have completed their studies can claim their personal bond from the institution. Take note that EMGS does not receive the funds from the students. EMGS only receive the Personal Bond Form as a requirement from the Immigration Department.
Have a good day.
