Okay. So there was supposed to be a visa renewal but I couldn’t do that because my passport expired. So I had to apply for a new passport. Of which I did and I sent it in to my university. Now everything is clear. From my experience when everything is in order renewal is a routine process taking 3 weeks or maximum a month. However, if there is any sort of delay because of passport renewal or any other thing then the time becomes really unpredictable.

Is there any way whatsoever to boost up the visa progress? Pay extra money or something like that?

That I have no idea. In my stay here in Malaysia I have never seen money get involved in the process. Except the officially mandated amount.

I started the process with a new passport. Cause the old one had expired.

Zii your case is not clear even to me let alone EMGS and immigration which conduct a thorough investigation of your document.

Were there missing documents when submitting to EMGS? If there is a missing document, it will involve back and forth between your institution and EMGS dragging the process longer than expected. If there are no missing documents and your institution has submitted them in order, EMGS takes 14 working days to forward your documents to Immigration for…[Read more]

Yes all documents were sent out on the 26th of September. And I had to renew my passport so. The whole renewal issue has been long. And I’ve been waiting for a couple of weeks to see the new passport on the EMGS website

1. Did start the process with an old passport? 2. Second are you applying for visa renewal? Or a new visa? Because you mentioned VAL (visa approval letter) which for a new application? Because new application and visa renewal are different and require different documents.
