No. You must be inside Malaysia to first get a student pass then you can apply for dependents.

yes. u can add the new passport number in the section “new travel document”

also make sure to take both passports when u travel back to malaysia

if it expired after february 2020, ask your university to apply for a renewal with the new passport number. once you’ve done that, apply for travel authorization which will take approximately 15-20 working days

Renewal application through your university plus submit simultaneously a travel authorisation application.

Is the travel authorisation with old passport number which has the the last student pass?

Hi Shatha,
Please note that your institution has selected to obtain your student pass directly from the state Immigration Department. Therefore, you would have to refer to your institution for further clarification.

Please be informed that you may forward the document to your institution to be submitted to EMGS. However, if you have submitted an online application, you may forward the photo via email at enquiry(at)emgs.com.my in order for us to process your application.

The immigration department does not state a timeline for approving your travel authorisation. Hopefully you can get it soon. We usually count from 7 to 14 working days after the document is submitted to the immigration department.
In the meantime, take note of the renewal fees issue. If your original visa expired on January 1st, 2021 then you must pay fees for 2021 and fees for 2022.
Anyways, you are not asking here about renewal but I just thought you might need this information. Best.
