Just bring the ikad and the letter from your uni stating your passport is in renewal process and contact number emergency of uni representative in case road block. In my case Penang no need passport but just bring your ikad just to be sure.

Can I travel to Sarawak on the student visa? Or do I need a separate social visit pass for it?

Sighhh Penang is domestic flight they dont require passport but just to be sure Ikad is not a passport replacement but act as it because students bringing passport everywhere will risk getting passport stolen or misplaced. Hence they issued an ikad act as an identification for intl students without having to bringing passport everywhere.

Yes they did, but can this copy be a replacement of travel document? when I looked it up, some airlines states that copies of passport can’t be accepted so I’m not sure.
