I think you also need an observation page to the passport indicating your previous passport number. If you don’t have active pass, then the other reasons could be attendance, academic result and release letter from your previous uni
@karamo thanks for the answer. But my attendance is fine and my academic results are fine as well and my release letter was submitted also.. yet my val was rejected by the immigration. I still don’t know why…
Then you must have an active pass in immigration system, and make sure your passport observation page has your old passport number
I don’t have any active pass. My last previous Visa was shortened. No pass is active. And for my new passport data page, the old passport number was not included in it because my government changed thier policy but i submitted my both passport for my application so i don’t think that would be an issue at all..
I have previous passport was expired too and i apply with the new passport.. If it is a reason than many will get rejected for that..
@mohammed you mean your application was never rejected? Then what do you really think might be the issue on my own case?? All my documents and records are very fine but was rejected at 35%. I still really don’t know why…
which country are you from? and is in your new passport don’t they put the previous passport number or you make a complete new one without trace of previous one??
@mohammed i never did that. Am from Nigeria. I just renewed my passport because it’s expired and i submitted both of them. I know the implications of doing all those. My documents are all genuine and legal. My previous and new passport was both submitted for my application. And my certificates are having my old passport number. So all my documents are 100% genuine. Very sure..
Everything seems all right at your end..I think only EMGS or your institution can tell why they reject.. I don’t find anything for rejection.

Make sure the observation page has your old passport number and you don’t have an active pass
Hey guys! So i also applied student pass 3 years ago with my old passport. I switched passport and they dont ask for any observation pages? The old student pass in my old passport expired already though. But my uni never mention about observation pages or do i have to photocopy my old passport and gave EMGS. Anyone can explain to me about this observation page regarding an old passport?
For my own case they requested for my old passport and all the Visa pages i used to study in my previous uni.. and also release letter and completion letter. I guess they shall request it from you soon. But though even at that, my val was rejected. Don’t know why.. but i hope will find out by today.
Ohh means u study in different uni than u applying now? Then that must not be the case for me. I only study in one university till now and never change major or uni. I apply with new passport cos it was less than 12 months validity. I think if u changr uni and major they are a bit pushy and request for all sort of documents to confirm ur really progressing and not switching uni and major too often.
May be i think so.. but i finished my diploma and now applied for degree in another uni. So would that cause for any rejection?? I still don’t really know why they rejected. All my paper works is 100% correct and genuine… the big question here now is why the rejection???
Okay now what u can do is ask your institution about your rejection reason. If immigration and emgs already sent the letter to your uni about the reason of your rejection then you can contact your uni to resubmit the documents or fix whatever it is the immigration asked u for. I submitted the pending documents dy. Now waitimg for EMGS to process the docs i submitted.
My home country government has stopped including the old passport number on the new one.. that i don’t know why.. but still i submitted both passport to emgs and immigration. So i don’t think that is an issue.. they have the both passport.
