Your university has request the reason of rejected your application also it’s allowed you to appeal or not base of reason of rejection can know. It’s will take at least one month to get the reason from immigration. Have to be patient

If you are over staying then the application type should not be “new”, it should be changed into progression or extension

Email university and explain, they have to send an email to EMGS asking them to change the application type.
