Request for Guidance on Tuition Fee Refund After Student Visa Cancellation
Dear EMGS Hub Malaysia Team,
I hope you are well.
I am writing to seek your guidance mainly regarding the refund of my tuition fees after discontinuing my studies in Malaysia.
I arrived in Malaysia in January 2025 and was required to complete the English Placement Course (EPC) before enrolling in my main degree program. Asia E University charged me RM 5,000 for the EPC course for one year and allowed one year to complete it. I have paid a total of RM 16,000 in tuition fees.
However, I did not enroll in or commence my main course. Due to unavoidable personal issues, mental stress, and repeated changes in university policies that resulted in additional financial pressure, I decided to discontinue my studies and return to Bangladesh.
I have already requested the university to cancel my student visa and issue a Release Letter. The university has also informed me that I need to apply for a Special Pass in order to leave Malaysia legally, as my visa will expire on 3 February.
In this situation, I kindly request EMGS guidance on the following matters, with particular focus on tuition fees:
Whether I am eligible for any tuition fee refund, as I did not enroll in the main academic program
The correct procedure and authority responsible for processing tuition fee refunds
Whether EMGS can review or advise on this matter, considering the circumstances
I would greatly appreciate your advice and support in resolving this matter fairly.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Yours sincerely,
Md Mehedi Hasan Rifat
