Respected sir / madam,

After carefully reviewing my situation I realised that it’s best to get a new passport as my current passport validity expires on Dec 26 2019.

I intend to start studies at university of Malaya this September.
Both emgs and university of malaya officers have told me that it’s risky to apply with same passport.

Getting a new passport takes time.

So can I apply for VAL with old passport which is not yet cancelled, and then use the new passport later? I want to use new passport later For getting SEV and student pass and during travelling as well.?

  It is advisable that you submit the VAL application after obtaining your new passport to ensure the smooth processing of your application. In the event that you intend to amend the details of the old passport to new passport numbers once your VAL has been approved, the institution is required to submit your VAL for the amendment procedure. This process will take some time as you will only be able to enter the country with the amended VAL.
