This is because my passport has less than 18 months which is required for 1 year visa renewal. Also there has been a delay in getting a new passport . So i choose to renew for 6 months only while waiting for my new passport yo be completed.

I wanted to ask can i do a visa renewal with a passport with less than 15months before expiry. This is because getting a new passport has been delayed but i need to renew my student visa. Then when my new passport is out i can transfer the new visa to the new passport
